Borders, Scotland

Situated in the heart of the Cheviot Hills, The Bowmont Valley has quite rightly gained a reputation as one of the U.K.’s premier high bird shoots, with many teams returning several times during each season to enjoy fabulous shooting and stunning rugged scenery.

Since starting the shoot in 1999 they have developed in excess of 50 Drives for both Pheasant and partridge. Many of the drives are famous for their quality, showing pheasants that need to be seen to be believed. The partridge drives at Bowmont are also exceptional with the quality providing some extreme shooting to challenge even the finest shots.

The Bowmont Valley is a beautiful dale running Northwards from the English/Scottish border and is deep rooted in the history of Scotland and England.

Either flying into Edinburgh and transferring from there to your chosen hotel, or via A9 from the South is very easy to get to. You will be collected in the morning from your accommodation before being driven onto the hill for the day ahead.

Pheasant and partridge

Early September until early January

A typical day would start with drawing pegs followed by two drives before stopping for some elevenses of local smoked salmon and sausages, followed by another drive. Then returning to the nearest bothy for a delicious 3 course lunch and another drive or two to finish the day off. It is also possible to shoot through if preferred.

Locally there are some wonderful accommodation options, these include, The Roxburghe Hotel, Manderston House, Burnhope Lodge, Burts Hotel and Lylestane House.
