Cold Aston is one of the Cotswolds finest shoots, set in over 3000 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside with deep pasture valleys offering truly challenging partridge shooting, from September onwards with the added variety of pheasants from the end of October.
Cold Aston boasts over 30 drives which allows back-to-back days with many options at the keeper’s disposal to suit all wind directions. Days are hosted from the large brand-new shoot lodge (2019) with large drawing room for guns to meet and impressive dining room where shoot lunches are served. Elevenses is usually taken out in the field during drives from one of the carefully positioned huts found across the shoot just in case you get caught out by rain.
The shoot lies each side of the Fosse Way which was built to mark the western frontier of Roman rule in Iron Age Britain.
Heading to Oxford and then to Burford into the heart of the Cotswolds. The shoot lies a stones throw from the world famous town of Bourton-on-the-Water.
The day begins in the purpose built shoot lodge on the edge of the estate. From there most teams head out in the gun bus for the first of two drives. Elevenses are then taken out in the field, followed by two further drives and then returning to the shoot lodge for late lunch.
