South Gloucestershire

Newington, located in Gloucestershire, is just fifteen minutes north of Junction 18 on the M4. The shooting takes place in two secluded valleys within the picturesque 2,500-acre Vernon family estate, characterised by steep grass banks, Cotswold stone walls, and mature woodland.

The drives feature a mix of woodland and game crops, providing challenging shots across the valleys. Predominantly pheasants, some drives also feature partridges, with expected bags of 300 a day. As a family-oriented shoot, most of the shooting is taken by the Vernon family, with a few exclusive days available to let. The relaxed atmosphere is complemented by easy access to the drives, minimising the need for long car transfers.

The shooting lodge, adjacent to the main house, serves as the meeting point and offers delicious lunch and tea. Nearby, the award-winning Calcot Manor country house hotel is just two miles away, ideal for an overnight stay before the shoot.

Only a two-hour drive from central London, Newington provides excellent shooting in beautiful steep terrain with a charming, unpressured atmosphere.

The local town Tetbury dates back at least 1,300 years to an ancient hill fort from the early Middle Ages. Tetbury's first records are from AD 681, when King Ethelred of Mercia issued a land charter.
